About Indian Creek Historical Fashions

Bringing History to Life Through Immersive Living History Programs & Historical Storytelling

At Indian Creek Historical Fashions, history is not something that sits quietly behind glass.

It is something audiences experience.

Through immersive storytelling, authentic historical clothing, audience participation, and hands-on educational experiences, Indian Creek Historical Fashions brings the past vividly to life for museums, schools, homeschools, libraries, historical societies, heritage festivals, National Parks, community organizations, and educational events across Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and the Midwest.

Founded by historical storyteller and living historian Rayma Volkmer, Indian Creek Historical Fashions specializes in engaging living history programs that connect modern audiences to the people, struggles, triumphs, and daily lives of the 19th century.

From powerful frontier survival stories and Civil War experiences to Victorian fashion demonstrations and interactive educational workshops, every program is designed to educate, inspire, and create unforgettable connections to the past.

Meet the Storyteller

Rayma Volkmer is a historical storyteller, living historian, historical clothing interpreter, and educator with a passion for preserving history through immersive audience experiences.

Known for emotionally engaging presentations and historically accurate clothing demonstrations, Rayma combines powerful storytelling with authentic material culture to help audiences understand not only what happened in history—but what it felt like to live it.

Using historically inspired garments created on treadle sewing machines, reproduction accessories, interactive demonstrations, and audience participation, Rayma transforms historical education into a memorable experience for audiences of all ages.

Her programs explore:
