Presented in a historically accurate Victorian ball gown, Rayma Volkmer begins with a short introduction to the history of fans, their place in nineteenth-century fashion and society, and the romantic tradition known as the “language of the fan.” Guests will discover some of the gestures and meanings that became associated with fans—and the real history behind this famous Victorian tradition.
The gown itself becomes part of the program as Rayma shares details about Victorian fashion, the silhouette, and the layers and construction that created the elegant look of the period.

The majority of the one-hour program is devoted to creating your own Victorian-inspired fan.
All supplies are provided.
Participants decorate and personalize their own fan while enjoying a relaxed, social, creative experience. At the end of the program, everyone leaves with a beautiful fan of their own to take home.
